Youth Program InternAt — Community Action Partnership of Orange County

Opportunity Summary 

Located at three Family Resource Centers in Orange County, CA, CAP OC's youth programs aim to serve students in low socioeconomic communities by assisting them with their academic goals, improve their socioemotional capacities, as well as get them involved in their local community through civic engagement. We serves ages 5-18 in Anaheim, Orange, and Santa Ana.

The Youth Program Intern will be responsible for assisting in curriculum development, program planning, event planning, and running our afterschool program. The intern will also be working closely with a group to teens to mentor them. This internship is anywhere from 15 hours up to 25 (depending on the interns' capacity).

Tasks
Program Curriculum Development - Following the CAP OC Youth Services' Pillars of Youth Development, Youth Thrive Questionnaire, and other tools used
Conduct Program Outreach in-person and virtually
Mentorship of teens in-person

Training
Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) Training
Job Shadowing
Workshops/skills training
One-on-one mentorship weekly or biweekly
General program orientation
Others dependent on funding

Learning Outcomes
Know how to navigate difficult conversations with kids and teens
How to provide a trauma-informed level of care
How to provide a culturally empowering level of care
How to develop curriculum and plan programming activities
