Legal Services for Seniors

Organization Description

Legal Services for Seniors (LSS) is a nonprofit law firm that provides no cost legal representation by licensed staff attorneys and legal advocates to Monterey County seniors 60 years of age and above with an emphasis on serving those who are socially and/or economically at risk. here is no income limitations, but we give preference to those in the greatest social and economic need.

Since 1985, LSS has helped more than 87,000 Monterey County seniors with legal issues such as landlord-tenant conflict, Medicare insurance mix-ups, Social Security mistakes, consumer fraud, physical and financial elder abuse, wills, advance health care directives and more.

Program Information

The students will work under the supervision of an attorney on a variety of civil legal cases for Monterey County residents who are age 60 and older. They will also be asked to engage in community outreach and training.  They will learn to prepare basic legal forms such as Wills, Springing Power of Attorneys, and Advanced Health Care Directives.
