Opportunity Summary 

To help monitor the safety of the children, communicate with the teachers as well as building relationship with the children, help prepare a nutritious meal during snack time, and to help enrich activities with other teachers.

Tasks
Before the children arrive, each teacher is given out a planning period. The internship will be partnered up with a teacher and will participate on their planning time to come up with a lesson plan for the week. When comfortable, they may also be in charge of the activity with the teacher supporting them. The intern would also help prepare snack with healthy meal choice for the children and learn the portion control for different age group.

Training
When the student first arrive, they will be given a tour of the rooms and what grade level would be in each room. Be introduced to the teacher and what grade level they work with. They will be assigned to a teacher to shadow for the first couple weeks to be adjusted to the schedule. Weekly scheduled one-on-one would be given to communicate with the intern if there is anything they need or any questions they have.

Learning Outcomes
By the end of the academic internship the student will be able to learn responsibilities on what the teachers do before and after the children come from school, be part of the training throughout the school year, problem solve during a conflict, and how to prepare a lesson plan for the activities.
