Opportunity Summary
The TAPP Peer Mentorship Program is committed to easing transfer students transition to CSUF and strengthening student success through community building, academic support, and resource navigation. The TAPP Peer Mentor will work to support their mentees to connect and establish a strong sense of belonging, gain familiarity with campus resources, and to develop skills and habits that will help them succeed academically.
Learning Outcomes
- Identify and understand common areas of need or support for transfer, adult, and parenting students
2. Identify and articulate strengths and contributions of TAPP students
3. Connect program goals to practice by providing examples of how these goals were met within the mentorship relationship
4. Explain facets of their mentorship style and different approaches to guidance and support
Training
- Hold monthly all mentor meetings dedicated to addressing common issues, identifying trends, and intentional training related to the development of a mentoring relationship, supporting students in crisis, boundaries, leadership, resources, and more.
2. Familiarize the student with Yosso's Community Cultural Wealth Model and how it connects to the program goals.
3. Hold weekly 1:1 check ins to discuss, review, and reflect on the mentoring process, areas of strength, improvement, and support in mentoring relationship
4. Assign NASPA Certified Peer Educator Training and Inclusion Champaign Certificate Program participation
Tasks/Duties
- Providing support to 3 mentees
2. Participating and engaging in monthly all mentor meetings
3. Attending and engaging in monthly all cohort event
4. Meeting with each mentee bi weekly
5. Weekly 1:1 check ins with program coordinator
