Conserved Lands Stewardship Crew - Big Sur Land TrustAt — Big Sur Land Trust (BSLT)
Students will engage in general land stewardship activities (restoration, introduced species reduction, trail improvements, etc.) at various Big Sur Land Trust preserves such as Marks Ranch, Glen Deven Ranch, Martin Dunes, and more. Students should be prepared for half-days and full-days of physical work in a variety of beautiful outdoor settings, including backcountry nature preserves, working alongside a BSLT stewardship staff member.
Students must be available at least one FULL WEEKDAY (e.g., MONDAYS 8AM-4PM) to be considered for this opportunity. Which weekday is selected for service will depend on our applicants’ collective availability.
Additionally, if possible, students should also be available for full days of service on:
- Sunday, April 27 (Big Sur International Marathon)
- Saturday, May 10 (Race for Open Space)
The option for a staff-driven carpool from CSUMB to the workday locations will be offered.

Requirements:
- Must be 18 or older
- Bilingual Desired
Students will be given a customized Big Sur Land Trust volunteer orientation to familiarize with Big Sur Land Trust's history, mission/vision, major programs, major projects, and organizational structure. Students will receive direct field training from a Big Sur Land Trust supervisor.
Service learners will receive direct supervision and ongoing support from Natalie Vaughn (Land Steward). Jenny Jacox (Chief Strategy Officer) will serve as an additional resource and point of contact.
SITE LOCATION: Parking and work areas may not be secure or adequately illuminated.
Some parking lots that will be used by service learners and Big Sur Land Trust staff are not secured. Land stewardship work will be outdoors, at Big Sur Land Trust preserves.
