Teaching Assistant-D. SerpasAt — CSUF - College of Humanities & Social Science
This teaching assistant position consists of helping Professor Serpas in his Psyc 302 Learning & Memory course in Spring 2024. Primary teaching assistant tasks will include using rubrics to grade student discussion boards and writing assignments, facilitating exam reviews, and providing assistance to enrolled students with course questions. The teaching assistant will serve as an integral adjunct support for the course.
Learning Outcomes
1) Use rubrics to grade formative and summative course assessments in a psychology course.
2) Identify key characteristics of effective assessments such as quizzes, exams, and projects that target the student learning outcomes for the course
3) Demonstrate effective communication skills both with the instructor and students. This will involve clear and concise explanations of course content, responsiveness to student inquiries, and the ability to provide feedback to students on their assignments.
Training
1) Training on using rubrics effectively including strategies to grade fairly
2) Provide education on the purpose and nature of course assessments administered in the course.
3) Provide template email communications for the teaching assistant to facilitate effective communication between the teaching assistant and students.
