Opportunity Summary 

Supporting Gender Health Center's syringe exchange program, providing clean needles, safer drug use supplies, and survival supplies to community members both at the center and through outreach to local encampments of people experiencing homelessness. Providing education on Naloxone usage and other practices to reduce the harm around using drugs.

Opportunity Learning Outcomes 

Core principles of harm reduction practices, logistics of running a syringe exchange program, staying attuned to the needs of community members experiencing homelessness through open conversation and outreach, building relationships with community members and connecting them to resources as needed throughout Sacramento county (such as housing, health navigation, gender affirming care, etc.)

Opportunity Training 

Harm Reduction staff will train the students in day-to-day activities as well as in the history and principles of harm reduction. Students will also be trained in the Gender Health Center's policies and procedures.
