Opportunity Summary 

An internship in the Foster Care and Adoption program will provide a student first hand experience with the child welfare system. Students will shadow MSW level social workers during home visits with foster families and children, assist in completion of documentation, participate in Child Family Team Meetings and learn to advocate for a child's needs. Interns may also have opportunities to work directly with foster youth and participate in interagency meetings with Stanislaus County Child Welfare.

Opportunity Training 

Students will receive training equivalent to social worker level training, agency trainings required for accreditation and trainings for foster families.

Additional risk specific to this opportunity 

Field safety trainings are completed early in the process to prevent potential safety issues while home visiting.
