Child Development Intern - Supervised Field ExperienceAt — Catalyst Kids Vista Verde

While under direct of supervision of center staff said intern will interact, engage, and supervise school-age children in a licensed childcare center.  Develop and implement an age-appropriate curriculum based on children's interests.  Collect data and document the progress of children's development.  Adhere to state, county, and safety guidelines such as OSHA, mandated reporter, and first aid general practices.  Communicate effectively with center staff and be flexible to support a wide range of student's needs. 

Tasks:

Supervision of children, positive role modeling, appropriate adult-to-child interactions, support with daily set up and breakdown of materials and environment, documentation of children's work, anecdotal notes to track children's progress, and positive problem-solving strategies.

Training:

Daily check in's to communicate routines and flow of the day. Weekly one on ones to discuss strengths and areas of growth. Online and paper handout training modules for topics related to child development.

Learning Outcome:

Plan and lead one age-appropriate activity. Complete one documentation board based on a core area of development or center needs. Complete one DRDP developmental assessment on a child.
