Child Creativity Lab (CCL) is a non-profit organization that engages and inspires the next generation of critical thinkers, problem solvers, innovators, and leaders through hands-on exploration of STEM concepts. How do we do this? We add an “A” for art and create STEAM Challenge Kits using all recycled materials from our Depot for Creative Reuse. Instructors are paid hourly for their time bi-weekly, including class prep time and training. Your schedule with us can be adjusted to accommodate for classes and other obligations.

Job Summary:
The primary responsibility of the Child Creativity Lab Instructor is to teach STEAM + Creativity workshops with participants grades K-8, prepare workshop materials for programs, and develop STEAM-based curriculum. 
  
Location:

While our Depot for Creative Reuse is located in Santa Ana (on the border of Tustin and Irvine as well), most programs are taught out in the community in Santa Ana, Costa Mesa, Irvine, and Orange. We are expanding into Whittier, La Habra, Huntington Beach, Laguna Beach, Aliso Viejo, and more local cities.

Time Commitment:
Part time (10-20 hours)

Key responsibilities:
·       Prepare materials for scheduled workshops in our Depot for Creative Reuse
·        Arrive before class times to prep and clean up after
·        Facilitate and oversee STEAM + Creativity workshops at various locations with other instructors/staff

Qualifications:
·        Interest in education and experience teaching
·        Creative, flexible, and able to adapt to classroom environments
·        Excellent organization and communication skills
·        Professionalism while working in community partner and school environments
·        Dependable attendance
·        Automobile or access to other transportation REQUIRED

Training and Support Provided:
·        Orientation to Child Creativity Lab
·        On-site training
·        Background check and fingerprinting

Prepare materials and curriculum for school programs, drive to schools to teach programs with co-teachers, lead and facilitate STEAM + creativity workshops, guide students in classroom expectations, manage parent/staff volunteers if necessary

Training:

Students will go through a 5-day (2-3 hrs per day) intensive training in which they will learn about non-profits, CCL culture, classroom management, volunteer management, STEAM concepts for students TK-8, how to teach and co-teacher, and more. Training ends in a practicum where the applicant teaches a classroom experience.

Learning Outcomes:

Effectively manage a classroom as a lead teacher
Teach STEAM concepts to students TK-12
Manage parent/corporate volunteers and delegate to assist in the classroom
