- Job Description:
- Community Outreach Program Facilitators help plan, organize, and facilitate the daily operations of the Blooming Minds program site in the Whittier community. These activities include, but are not limited to, daily sessions with children during the after-school hours, tutoring intervention, lesson planning, doing community outreach, and participating in weekly team meetings. Partnerships with the WCSD and YAL are locked in for the Fall and excited to participate in the program.
- Time Commitment:
- Commit an average of 5-8 hours per week
- Have your own transportation to and from sites
- Monday - Thursday 2-6pm (Can commit to 2 days)A Community Program Outreach Facilitator’s Role & Responsibilities:
- Attend a mandatory weekly team meeting
- Attend trainings
- Event Planning
- Ongoing collaboration and communication with team members
- Commit to working for at least one academic school year
- Willingness to travel to different sites (within the City of Whittier)

Related to the tasks above in the job description, students will be creating and implementing curriculum for program. They may also occasionally work with the coordinator on other community projects with college partners.
Training:
All volunteers and new hires must go through a background check process and a virtual orientation. They must also do a sexual harassment and mandated reporter training. The coordinator of the program hosts weekly team meetings with the occasional 1-1 meeting to go over areas of growth and checking in with the students. All college students are trained by the coordinator and use the program handbook to guide the program as a template for workshops, and skills needed.
Learning Outcomes:
Student will learn how to effectively lead a program of 20 kids and incorporate class management. Student will increase her skills of working in a team, and acquire leadership skills. Student will undertake these activities and seek insight into the qualities, skills, and knowledge that help the program perform effectively.
