The Pathways Internship ProgramAt — California Department of Public Health
The California Pathways into Public Health (Pathways) Internship Program provides training, support, and hands-on work experience to community college and university students studying public health or related disciplines. Through this program, students are offered an opportunity to work at local health departments across the state and receive training, professional development, and paid wages.
The Pathways Internship Program aims to provide an introductory governmental work experience to students from historically under-represented and diverse backgrounds.
Internship Program Details:
- Offered every spring and fall semester.
- Internships run approximately 14–15 weeks.
- Placement at local health departments throughout California.
- Interns commit to work between 15–29 hours per week.
- Hourly wages are determined by placement location and intern's level of education.

California Pathways into Public Health (Pathways) Internship Program applicants must apply through the online job posting via UEI. Following completion of the UEI job application, applicants will receive a supplemental survey via email directly from the Pathways team. Please make sure the email used to apply is accurate and checked on a frequent basis.

Internship applications require both steps to be completed:
