Opportunity Summary 

Heart of LA provides academic and enrichment programs for youth ages 6 to 26 years old. Programs include athletics, visual arts, scientific arts, and academic programs, Smart Start and Bridges. Volunteer responsibilities vary from class to class but can include greeting students, supporting students with their activities, setting up supplies, chaperoning from class to class, and helping to facilitate programming.

Opportunity Learning Outcomes 

At the end of this opportunity, students will have built on their problem solving skills, youth engagement, tutoring skills, and creating activities for youth.

Opportunity Training 

All volunteers have access to a 1 hour long training on the organization and best practices when working with youth, including utilizing a trauma informed care lens. Students will receive feedback from program teams including program directors. Volunteers will also have access to weekly check ins with the Volunteer program team.
