Opportunity Summary 

Tasks:

Demonstrate & provide assistance with all exercise equipment, stretches and individualized exercise programs, demonstrate and provide assistance with patient's first 1:1 exercise session, provide assistance to patients hooking up to ECG, quickly recognize changes, symptoms or other problems related to participant's condition and take appropriate action, assist with automatic and manual blood pressures, serve as a role model of cardiac fitness by demonstrating personal commitment to fitness and healthy lifestyle, comply with HIPPA regulations and all department policies & procedures.

Training:

Interns will be trained in all aspects of Phase I, II and III cardiac and pulmonary rehab, including exercise prescription and supervision, ECG basic arrhythmia training, cardiac risk factors and education related to risk factors. Intern may observe exercise stress tests and heart catherizations as indicated, and observe in-patient education for surgical patients. Shadowing a clinical 5 days a week and monthly check-ins.

Learning outcome:

Be able to assess, plan, implement & evaluate patient's plan of care. Be able to communicate & teach cardiac risk factor modification habits and goals. Increase proficiency with ECG recognition. Demonstrate proper use of exercise equipment and provide safe exercise practices for those with angina, myocardial infarction, cardiac surgery, percutaneous intervention, pacemaker, ICD's and heart transplants.
