Internship Start Date/Season: 4/22 2024

Internship Duration: 1 Semester

Time/Days Required: 16 - 18 hours per week

Workplace Requirements: Remote / Hybrid

Dim Mak Records is seeking an A&R intern. Applicants should be available to work remotely and/or out of our Downtown LA office for 16 hours/week. A&R candidates should have knowledge of the Dim Mak brand, as well as of the EDM community as a whole. Knowledge of electronic music production and artists across all genres is a must, as well as having their finger on the pulse of major events, festivals, and releases outside of Dim Mak, news pertaining to the electronic community, etc.

Qualifications:

-Strong research and communication skills

-Knowledge of electronic music artists & genres

-Knowledge of major events, festivals, releases

-Knowledge of music writing & composition preferred

-Engineering and/or music training preferred

Responsibilities:

-Researching writers and producers

-Maintaining contact list and database

-Compiling music assets

-Maintaining A&R newsletter

-Support for A&R administration

Requirements:

-Enrolled in a bachelor's program

-Receive school credit

Training:

General Employer Orientation:
All interns will undergo a mandatory orientation session to familiarize themselves with Dim Mak Records, its mission, values, organizational structure, and workplace policies.

Learning Outcomes:

1. Demonstrate proficient research skills in identifying potential writers, producers, and artists within the electronic music community.
2. Develop effective communication skills through maintaining contact lists, databases, and corresponding with industry professionals.
3. Gain comprehensive knowledge of electronic music artists, genres, major events, festivals, and releases, both within and outside of the Dim Mak brand.
4. Learn the process of compiling and organizing music assets for review and potential collaboration opportunities.
5. Provide support in administrative tasks related to A&R operations, such as scheduling meetings, organizing files, and managing documentation.
6. Understand the role of A&R within a record label and its significance in artist development and music production.
7. Apply theoretical knowledge gained from engineering and/or music training, if applicable, to real-world scenarios in the music industry.
8. Collaborate with team members and adapt to remote and/or hybrid work environments, demonstrating flexibility and professionalism in various settings.
9. Reflect on the internship experience and articulate personal growth, insights, and contributions to the Dim Mak Records team and the broader electronic music community.
