Communications Liaison InternAt — YMCA of Orange County

Opportunity Summary 

The communications liaison will be the bridge between parent communications, the children, and other staff. They are responsible for creating a welcoming and supporting environment in assigned YMCA programs. Responsibilities include creating newsletters to showcase what goes on in the Y-ASES programs as well as what is to come. They will also document through photography and videography, various activies to create weekly recaps of the program(content creation). 

Tasks:

A leadership student team called KICC (Kids In Charge of Community) will be lead by the intern to communicate about the learning areas of Healthy Eating, Physical Exercise, STEAM on hands activities, and Social Emotional Learning. This will be documented and showcased on Weekly Newsletter and Emails

Training:

Student will have an initial orientation, reviewing the expectations of this position. They will also meet regularly/weekly with the site director to update the audit/grant criterias.

Learning Outcome:

By the end of the academic internship, the student will be able to confidently speak on topics concerning the subject matter, relating to the Y-ASES program, children, activities, etc. They will also learn how to work under a constant deadline as well as express their creative side in a professional matter to come up with different ways to communicate(visually/through writing/etc). They will also be able to understand an ELOP/ASES grant and how to incorporate these requirements in the program.
