Position Overview:
The Athletic Physical Education (PE) Facilitator Assistant is crucial in supporting the physical education department within an educational institution. This multifaceted role involves assisting with PE classes, promoting physical fitness, and organizing sports and recreational activities to enhance students' physical and personal development.
Key Responsibilities:
Physical Education Support:
- Collaborate with the PE Facilitator and academic departments to identify students needing additional physical activity support.
- Assist in organizing and coordinating PE classes, fitness sessions, and sports activities.
- Provide physical education support by demonstrating exercises, explaining techniques, and helping students with fitness routines.
Sports and Recreational Services:
- Collaborate with student sports organizations, clubs, and campus groups to facilitate sports and recreational activities.
- Assist in planning and executing events that foster physical fitness, teamwork, and student engagement.
- Help coordinate intramural sports, athletic competitions, and other initiatives encouraging students to participate in physical activities.
Health and Wellness Support:
- Work closely with the health and wellness department to identify students who may benefit from fitness and wellness programs.
- Provide initial support by actively engaging with students, offering fitness advice, and directing them to appropriate resources.
- Maintain confidentiality while assisting students in finding the proper channels for seeking professional health and wellness support when needed.
Student Outreach and Engagement:
- Collaborate with the PE Facilitator to develop and implement strategies to engage students in physical activities.
- Utilize various communication platforms to disseminate information about sports events, fitness resources, and support services.
- Actively engage with students through in-person interactions, social media, and other relevant channels to promote physical activity and wellness.
Resource Management:
- Assist in managing resources related to sports equipment, event supplies, and fitness materials.
- Maintain records and databases related to student participation in PE classes, sports events, and wellness programs.
- Monitor resource utilization and make recommendations for improvements and adjustments as needed.
Collaboration and Reporting:
- Collaborate with faculty, staff, and student leaders to align physical education initiatives with the institution's goals.
- Provide regular reports to the PE Facilitator on the effectiveness of PE classes, sports activities, and wellness programs.
- Participate in staff meetings and contribute to continuously improving student physical education and support services.
Training:
Orientation and Institution Familiarization:
- Introduction to the institution's mission, values, policies, and organizational structure.
- Overview of the physical education department and its role in student support.
Student Support Services Overview:
- In-depth understanding of the various student support services offered by the institution, including PE classes, sports activities, and wellness programs.
PE Techniques:
- Training in effective PE teaching techniques, including active demonstration, explaining exercises, and providing constructive feedback.
- Strategies for adapting PE methods to individual student fitness levels.
Health and Wellness Skills:
- Introduction to basic health and wellness skills, such as active engagement, empathy, and maintaining boundaries.
- Understanding when to refer students to professional health and wellness counselors for more complex issues.
Event Planning and Execution:
- Event planning and organization training, including budgeting, logistics, marketing, and post-event evaluation.
- Collaboration with student organizations to create engaging and inclusive sports and fitness events.
Interpersonal Communication:
- Effective communication techniques for interacting with students, faculty, staff, and administrators.
- Cultural sensitivity and inclusivity training to interact with a diverse student population.
