File Clerk(s) will provide assistance to Paralegals\\Legal Assistants in performance of their duties including but not limited to managing mail, running copies, scanning documents, and assisting with translations as necessary. They will assist in conducting legal research projects. They will work under the direction an attorney, and Legal Assistant Supervisor.
No prior immigration experience required. Willing to accommodate course schedules. College student interested in entering immigration law field are encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities:
· Complete legal research
· Organize and manage client files
· Digitize client documents, and court files
· Process and manage incoming and outgoing mail according to office policies
· Assist in the completion of FOIA requests, and processing responses.
· Draft templated communications to clients as required
· Drafting translations of various legal documents
· Updating internal case management systems.
· Additional assigned tasks are required.
Tasks:
The intern will assist in the completion of immigration applications including assisting with translation of supporting documents, completing legal research, drafting applications under attorney supervision.
Training:
The intern is required to patriciate orientation with review of office policies and expectations.
The intern will participate in senior staff led seminar training sessions.
The intern will receive regular one-on-one trainings with team leads including reviewing work samples and evaluations of work produce
Learning Outcome:
By the end of the academic internship, the student will be able to conduct legal research to respond to unique legal questions.
By the end of the academic internship, the student will be able to understand the professional responsibilities, duties, and restrictions of a legal para-professional.
By the end of the academic internship, the student will be able to review complete legal valid translations.
