Organization Description

GFS works with families with young children ages 0-5 in the primarily-Latino community of East San José. We offer a variety of programs which include; ESL, NuParent, Hablemos Juntos, Support Group, Case Management, State Preschool, and the YWCR + Program. Our mission turned to objectives: -Young children who thrive in school and in life Parents who confidently help their children thrive -A community of parents who support and encourage each other

Program Information

At Grail Family Services we offer volunteer opportunities for the Yes We Can...Read Plus program. The YWCR+ program is free and available to Dorsa and San Antonio Elementary in East San José. We offer 30-minute mentoring sessions to Kindergarten and first-grade students by trained mentors on literacy and math activities to improve their skills. The sessions are 10 weeks long and volunteers are required to finish all 10 sessions with a maximum of 4 students each semester. We are always looking for intrested community members and college students to mentor our students and support them with their education.
