Hospice Clinical InternAt — Orange County Care Hospice
We are looking for a empathetic and passionate individual to join our team as a Hospice Clinical Intern. In this role, you will have the opportunity to gain valuable patient-facing experience in hospice care, learn about patient care coordination and and symptom management while working with a team of professionals who are passionate about providing the best end-of-life care to our patients and their families.

Duties
- Provide Patient companionship and/or office support services.
- Providing companionship to patients/families;
- Providing emotional support to patients/families;
- Performing household chores for patients/families;
- Attending IDG meetings;
- Reporting on patient/family status; and
- Assisting office staff as needed with research tasks, compiling patient/family support resources, and creating patient/family educational material
- Submits Direct Patient Care Visit Notes, which follow the patient's Plan of Care, per agency policy.
- Maintain patient HIPAA confidentiality per agency policy.
Skills
- Background/ areas of study related to healthcare, public health, business administration, public administration, communications, etc., or is interested in starting a career in the above-mentioned fields
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Compassion, empathy and respect for people of all backgrounds
- Organized, dependable, punctual, and willing to learn
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Attention to detail
- Fluency in Korean or another language is a bonus!
- Able to work independently
Training:
During the Hospice Clinical Internship, students will undergo comprehensive training to ensure a well-rounded and immersive learning experience under the direct supervision of the Community Liaison. The training will include a mandatory comprehensive internship orientation for students to receive an in-depth introduction to the operations and functions of hospice care, our philosophy, values, and mission. It will also cover the overall structure of the hospice setting and how all departments coordinate to provide excellent end-of-life care. This will be supplemented with monthly mandatory in-service training and every intern will work closely with the Community Liaison during their shifts for any support they may need.

Upon completion of the Hospice Clinical Internship, the students will have learned the following:

Patient-Facing Experience and Emotional Support Skills: Interns will gain hands-on experience in providing direct patient care and emotional support, learning to interact compassionately and empathetically with patients and their families during end-of-life care.

Understanding and Implementing Patient Care Coordination: Interns will learn how to coordinate and manage patient care effectively, understanding the intricacies of symptom management, patient care plans, and the collaborative efforts required to provide holistic end-of-life care.

Professional Development and Communication Skills: Through participation in IDG meetings, office support tasks, and the creation of patient/family educational materials, interns will enhance their professional communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, preparing them for careers in healthcare and related fields.
