Opportunity Summary 

As a High School mentor, you will be responsible for leading group sessions that focus on curriculum engagement, reflective activities, and real-world skill development. This role involves fostering positive and inclusive group environment that supports active participation and collaboration among members.

Tasks:

High School mentors will lead group sessions that involve engaging participants in curriculum and reflective practices. They will also evaluate and assess the effectiveness of curriculum and workshops to ensure optimal learning outcomes. Mentors will engage in collaborative planning with team members to design and develop activities and workshops. They will design and develop lesson plans that will be implemented during instructional time.

Interns will be supervised by on-site supervisor at all times.

Training:

Interns will have a 2 week shadowing period to ensure they feel confident with the roles and responsibilities. They will attend weekly meetings that provide opportunities for reflective practices and strategic guidance.

Learning Outcome:

1. Work collaboratively and foster relationships with peers and members of the after school program.
2. Assist students in navigating personal and emotional challenges to foster personal growth.
3.Learn to create an inclusive environment that respects and acknowledges the population we serve.
4.Facilitate student engagement with diverse cultural enrichment activities and field trips.
5. Provides guidance to members on college readiness, scholarship opportunities, and career pathways.
