Opportunity Summary 

The Communications Intern will support the administrative team in developing and implementing strategies to enhance the organization’s visibility, engagement, and outreach efforts. This role involves assisting with content creation, social media management, event promotion, and other communication activities. The intern will gain hands-on experience in nonprofit communications while contributing to the organization’s mission and goals.

Key Responsibilities:

    Content Creation:

    • Assist in writing, editing, and proofreading content for various platforms, including newsletters, blog posts, press releases, and social media.
    • \n

    • Develop engaging and compelling stories to highlight the organization’s impact and programs.
    • \n

    • Support the creation of visual content, such as graphics, infographics, and videos.
    • \n

    Social Media Management:

    • Help manage and maintain the organization’s social media presence across platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn.

    • Schedule and post content, monitor engagement, and respond to comments and messages.

    • Assist in developing and implementing social media campaigns to increase awareness and engagement.
    • \n

    Event Promotion:

    • Support the promotion of events, webinars, and fundraising activities through various communication channels.

    Administrative Support:

Training:

\n

The Communications Intern undergoes a thorough orientation and training covering the organization's vision, mission, safety, team structure, and role. They will have weekly meetings with the site supervisor, social media training, and shadowing opportunities. Hands-on experience is gained through tasks and projects. The internship ends with a performance review and career goal discussion.

Learning Outcome:

\n

The Communications Intern will develop content creation skills for newsletters, blogs, and social media. They will manage social media accounts, learn event promotion, website maintenance, media relations, and internal communications. The internship aims to equip them with a comprehensive skill set in nonprofit communications.
