Opportunity Summary 

Modern Currency PR, an award-winning, boutique, luxury hospitality & marketing public relations agency based in Los Angeles, CA, seeks super savvy internship candidates with deep interest in hospitality to join our growing team this Winter 2025 (January – April 2025 ). Candidates must possess a passion for luxury travel, restaurants, food culture/lifestyle (think recipes, food trends) and wanderlust for international travel/tourism to work intimately alongside a team of seasoned senior-level media industry professionals within an engaging boutique agency environment. 

The unpaid internship will be virtually-based and remote (at least 2 days per week) between 9am – 5:30pm. All candidates must be enrolled in college and eligible to receive academic credit. Ideal candidates will possess previous internship/professional experience.

    • Be self-motivated, take initiative and demonstrate appropriate follow-through

    • Ability to multi-task and prioritize with attention to detail: proofreading, grammar, fact-checking

    • Ability to take direction, constructive feedback and move forward productively

    • Proactive knowledge sharing

    • Strong verbal and written communications skills

    • Supply own laptop for use on the job

The types of skills an intern at MCPR can expect to gain hands-on experiences includes:

Tasks:

    • Creative Writing + Press materials: press releases, media alerts, editorial story angles and unique pitch creation

    • Event coordination: media-attended events and hospitality/tourism industry

    • Client Service: creative brainstorming for client pitches, events and programming, curation of client clip reports, briefing and memos, media profiles/backgrounds and other documents

    • Business development: responding to RFPs, new business pitching, agency capabilities presentations

    • Immersion into all varieties of media (print, digital, broadcast, and social) as it pertains to both the team’s practice and targeted client markets

Training:

  • Students will receive hands-on mentorship & an immersive learning experience through 1-1 project trainings and an in-depth onboarding process
  • Students will receive regular check-in meetings with supervisors & real-time feedback meetings
  • Students are invited to participate in agency weekly calls, shadow client calls & monthly agency training sessions (i.e. media list building, admin overviews, pitch writing workshops)
  • Students will have the opportunity to develop their PR skills through writing projects, reporting, media list building & more
