Intern will make and confirm appointments, greet and check in patients, check insurance eligibility and coverage, ask pertinent medical history questions, perform pretesting to prepare patients for their visit with the optometrist, and properly bill insurances for services provided.
Students are expected to answer phones and triage calls. He/she will also be making appointments and checking in patients. Also, intern is expected to be able to verify insurance coverage and billing for services. He/she will also have a chance to discuss with patients the importance of a dilation and how their overall health can affect their eye health.
Training:
We will begin this internship with a brief orientation outlining office flow, paperwork, and expectations. Interns will be assigned reading material along the way to further enhance this educational experience; this will allow the intern to learn more about the optometry field. Shadowing will be offered based on student availability.
