Internship Overview

 

I am seeking passionate interns to join our team for an immersive internship program focused on research assistance and the development of a training institute. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a supportive environment, working alongside an experienced clinician and researcher committed to making a difference. Mentorship is a central aspect of this internship, providing invaluable guidance and support as we work collaborative towards our mission.

 

Internship Details

 

  • Duration: Flexible, with a minimum commitment of 10 weeks.
  • Location: Remote
  • Hours: 10 – 15 hours per week
  • Compensation: This internship is unpaid, but I offer valuable learning experiences, mentorship, and potential academic credit.

 

Internship Responsibilities

 

  • Assist in research projects focused on holistic healing, social justice, and marginalized communities, including literature reviews, data collection, and analysis.
  • Contribute to the development of a training institute, helping to design curriculum, materials, and resources for future training programs.
  • Collaborate with me to explore innovative approaches to mental health, counseling, and community empowerment.
  • Engage in regular supervision and mentorship sessions (1x a week) to enhance your skills and knowledge in research and training development.

 

Qualifications

 

  • Currently enrolled in a counseling, psychology, social work, or related program.
  • Passionate about holistic healing, social justice, and serving marginalized communities.
  • Strong research skills, with experience in literature reviews, data collection, and analysis.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Previous experience in research, training development, or community organizing is preferred but not required.

Tasks:

• Collaborate with their mentor to explore innovative approaches to mental health, counseling, and community empowerment.

Training:

Interns will receive an initial general orientation, weekly one-on-one mentor meetings, skills training, hands-on training on different research methods, website design and management, and curriculum design training.

Learning Outcome:

1. Learning Objective: Enhance Research Skills in Holistic Healing and Social Justice
a. Interns will actively participate in research projects focusing on holistic healing, social justice, and marginalized communities. They will engage in literature reviews, assist in data collection, and learn methods for data analysis under the guidance of experienced mentors.
b. Measurable Outcome: By the end of the internship, interns should be able to independently conduct literature reviews, demonstrate proficiency in qualitative and/or quantitative data collection techniques, and analyze data to derive meaningful insights relevant to holistic healing and social justice issues.
2. Learning Objective: Develop Curriculum Design and Resource Development Skills
a. Interns will contribute to the development of a training institute by assisting in the design of curriculum, creation of educational materials, and development of resources for future training programs. They will collaborate closely with a mentor to understand the principles of effective curriculum design and adult learning theory.
b. Measurable Outcome: By the end of the internship, interns should be able to demonstrate proficiency in curriculum development, including the ability to outline learning objectives, create engaging educational materials, and develop resources that support effective training delivery in mental health and counseling contexts.
3. Objective: Gain Practical Experience in Community Empowerment and Counseling Innovation
4. Description: Interns will work collaboratively with a mentor to explore innovative approaches to mental health, counseling, and community empowerment. They will participate in brainstorming sessions, contribute ideas, and assist in the implementation of strategies that promote community well-being and empowerment.
5. Measurable Outcome: By the end of the internship, interns should be able to demonstrate an understanding of innovative approaches to mental health and community empowerment, showcase creativity in proposing solutions to challenges faced by marginalized communities, and articulate the importance of culturally responsive and inclusive practices in counseling and community work.

These learning objectives are designed to provide interns with a structured framework to develop and enhance their skills while contributing meaningfully to the goals of the internship program. Each objective focuses on practical experiences that align with the internship responsibilities and aims to foster personal and professional growth in the field of mental health, counseling, and community service.
