Program Information

CUSD Mental Health Counseling Program is a team of licensed therapists, associate clinicians (Associate MFTs and Associate Clinical Social Workers), and practicum student interns (MFT trainees, MSW interns, and LPCC interns) who deliver individual and group counseling sessions supporting students in developing skills in emotional identification, regulation, social interaction, healthy communication, effective coping strategies, self-advocacy, mindfulness, and more. Providing services within the school setting, we work systemically with students, parents, teachers, and administrators to profoundly impact student well-being, and the well-being of their families and communities. 

 

Health & Safety

Student will always work under the license of their clinical supervisor. Students as an intern role, with be working in a public school setting with youth/families from various dynamics and backgrounds, including trauma and therefore they can be vulnerable and are minor populations which require participation/engagement with parents/guardians around treamtent. In terms of risk or harm, it could be in terms of countertransference or mental anguish.

This could look like moving counseling supplies in office space when unpacking at new year or packing up at end of new year, moving chairs, or cleaning materials to sanitize counseling space.
