Opportunity Summary 

The Norooz Clinic Foundation is a non-profit mental health clinic with an office in Santa Ana. We are dedicated to providing quality mental health services to the community. At the Norooz Clinic Foundation, we believe in offering students the opportunity to gain a meaningful internship experience.

We offer long and short term Fall, Spring & Summer internship programs for undergraduate students from all fields that satisfy University credits at our facility. By being a part of our team, you will gain skills and knowledge in a wide range of topics, which include (but not limited to), marketing & social media, operations, community outreach, administration, project management, research, and more.

We encourage innovation and creativity and are looking for a Community Outreach Intern that is:

  • Passionate about reducing the stigma surrounding mental health
  • Interested in learning about nonprofits
  • Interested in learning about social media marketing
  • Interested in learning about community outreach and event organizing 
  • Enjoys connecting with individuals 
  • Most importantly, an individual that wants to grow and improve upon their professional skills
  • Available at least 1-2 days a week in-office & can commit up to 10 hours a week

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design flyers, brochures, marketing materials for events, presentations and business development
  • Research and develop a wide range of culturally and community specific mental health materials , such as flyers, presentations, blog posts and social media post
  • Assist in data collection and data entry activities 
  • Attend professional and community-based events and health fairs (both virtually and in-person)
  • Enhance professional growth and development through participation in trainings and workshops.

Training:

The internship provides the following training:
-mandatory orientation
-one on one weekly meetings with supervisor
-monthly review meetings with team members and founder
-daily check in emails
-shadowing at community outreach events
-shadowing at public presentations
-provided a syllabus meant as a learning guide
-provided with our policies and procedures
-samples of past projects

Learning Outcome:

By the end of the academic internship, the student will have a better understanding of how a nonprofit operates. The student will also be able to strengthen their communication skills by interacting with individuals in different roles and clients from different demographics. The student will be able to put together an educational and informational newsletter and blog post. Most importantly the student will be able to develop leadership skills, confidence in their own abilities, and manage responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Must have experience with social media platforms (TikTok, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, andYoutube)
  • Committed to meet minimum hour requirements for desired internship (independent work and flexible schedule permitted)
  • Proficiency in Google Suite and Microsoft Office
  • Experience/familiarity with computers, business e-mail communication systems and internet search capabilities
  • Attention to detail and proofreading skills
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and be proactive
  • Ability to track and manage time effectively
  • Personal computer with reliable Internet for remote work
  • Passion for making a difference in the world of mental health

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Candidates pursuing a degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Human Services, Public Relations, Communications, Public Health, Psychology, Sociology, or related fields.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Regular attendance and email communication are considered an essential job function; the inability to meet attendance requirements may preclude interns from retaining the internship.
