Video Production InternAt — Communications LAB
Video Production Intern is an entry-level position that provides assistance in camera operation, lighting, and sound recording. The individual will work closely with the video production executive to assist with the pre-production planning, on-set production, and post-production editing. This position assists in the day-to-day video production and management of various social accounts such as Instagram, Meta, or X for reel and video content on behalf of the agency’s clients.
Tasks:
- Assist the Video Production Executive in capturing and editing content on behalf of the agency’s clients
- Responsible for the safe transfer and storage of all footage.
- Ensure equipment is charged and properly stored before and after every shoot.
- Provide assistance as needed in all components of the production, including sound, lighting, camera, editing, and postproduction
- Operate and maintain proper levels and calibration of cameras, recorders, and other production equipment.
- Work closely with the creative staff to execute concepts through to completion.
- Maintain accurate records, logs, and transcribe production activities.
- Research topics using a variety of sources, including video archives, the internet, library archives, and others as needed.
Fielding and Processing Internal Information Requests
Maintaining Current Work-in-Progress Records and Archives of Past Project Information as Appropriate
The student will receive the following training during their internship:
1. General Employer Orientation
2. Client & Project Onboarding
3. Software Training as applicable (WIX, Canva, After Effects, Da Vinci Video Editing Program, Hootsuite, Later, Toggle, Asana, Slack, etc.)
4. Weekly scheduled meetings with mentor and account manager
5. Job shadowing with an Account Manager
Learning outcomes:
By the end of the academic internship, the student will be able to do the following:
Independently develop draft materials for review and distribution/publication on behalf of clients.
Capture and produce video footage for high-profile clients to support the marketing department.
Edit Video Media using post-production software.
Develop and learn best practices for handling and managing video equipment.
Support video production executive with video content creation for social media.
Obtain a working knowledge of how public relations, marketing, and graphic design tasks are received from the client, completed, reviewed for quality control, and then submitted to the client.
