The Cloud Data Engineer Intern utilizes strong skills in AWS tools and Python / Scala to create scalable data solutions and analytic dashboards leveraging our cloud data infrastructure. Interns at the Rock Family of Companies gain priceless, hands-on experience. Specific training responsibilities include:
- Develop and maintain Big Data ETL processes using AWS Glue and Lambda
- Write, test, and debug Python / Scala code for data processing and transformation
- Participate in design and code reviews for cloud-based data solutions
- Collaborate with business analysts and clients to understand business needs
- Design and implement data solutions with an emphasis on scalability, usability, and performance

Training:
The student will be assigned a technical lead and a mentor throughout the internship. The student will participate in regular stand up meetings with a larger team to check in on progress of assigned tasks. The student will have weekly or bi-weekly formal meetings with their technical leader. They will have endless opportunities to seek help, guidance, and training from SMEs. The student will also have direct, constant access to their technical leader for on-the-spot questions, in the moment feedback, or any more formal training that they would like or may require.

2. Learn and grasp understanding of advanced data engineering concepts, including ETL, cloud components.
3. Develop proficiency in using extensive data manipulation tools and technologies such as SQL, Apache Spark, Scala, and other tools for data integration.
