Research Assistant - C-REALAt — CSUF - Center for Research on Educational Access and Leadership (CREAL)

Duties:
Under the general direction of the Director and Program Analyst of the Center for Research on Educational Access and Leadership (C-REAL) the Fieldwork Research Assistants’ responsibilities range from what is included in their fieldwork contract to those listed below:
Support multiple project teams concurrently as well as assist with project assignments
Lead and assist with various evaluation projects and research reports
Assist with qualitative and quantitative data collection, entry, analysis amongst project teams
Data entry, management, review, and comprehensive analysis of results related to program evaluation and K-20 educational research
Report writing such as developing literature reviews, writing finding sections
Writing proposals for professional conference presentations and developing presentations
Co-facilitate trainings and professional development opportunities
Create campus-wide and community programs on issues of diversity, equity, access, leadership, and inclusion related to the research done through C-REAL
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the internship, the student will be able to:
- Conduct and Analyze Research: Demonstrate the ability to collect, enter, and analyze qualitative and quantitative data using appropriate methodologies and tools.
- Develop and Write Reports: Produce comprehensive research reports and literature reviews, including drafting sections on research findings and proposals for conference presentations.
- Present and Communicate Findings: Create and deliver presentations on research results and educational programs, effectively communicating complex information to diverse audiences.
- Facilitate Professional Development: Co-facilitate trainings and workshops on topics relevent to research, applying principles learned through research.
- Support Program Evaluation: Contribute to the design and evaluation of campus-wide and community programs, assessing their effectiveness and impact based on research findings.
Training
- Provide Hands-On Training: Offer training sessions and resources on data collection, entry, and analysis techniques, including the use of relevant software and tools for both qualitative and quantitative data.
- Mentorship in Report Writing: Guide the intern through the process of writing research reports, literature reviews, and proposals, providing feedback and support to enhance their writing skills.
- Presentation Skills Workshops: Provide resources on effective presentation techniques, helping the intern develop skills to communicate research findings clearly and professionally.
- Provide Facilitation Training: Instruct the intern on co-facilitating trainings and workshops, including strategies for engaging participants and presenting material on relevant research material.
- Provide Regular Feedback and Review: Schedule regular meetings to review progress, discuss challenges, and provide constructive feedback to ensure the intern is meeting learning goals and making progress in their tasks.
Tasks/Duties
- Data Collection and Analysis: Assisting with the collection, entry, and analysis of data, and preparing summaries and reports based on findings.
- Report and Proposal Writing: Contributing to the development of research reports, literature reviews, and proposals for conference presentations, showcasing their ability to write and organize information effectively.
- Presentation Creation and Delivery: Preparing and delivering presentations on research results and educational programs, demonstrating their ability to communicate ideas to various audiences.
- Co-Facilitation of Trainings: Assisting in the facilitation of professional development workshops, applying their knowledge to engage and educate participants on relevant topics.
- Program Evaluation Support: Helping design and evaluate campus-wide and community programs, providing insights based on research to assess their effectiveness and impact.
