Opportunity Summary 

Internship Description

At BEL Event Productions, we are the only one-stop-shop event production company in California where we handle anything and everything with events in our 20,000 sq ft warehouse, including coordination, rentals, and floral design. Your role as an Event Planning Intern is to learn firsthand what goes into creating an event with our unique approach. You will experience what goes on behind the scenes of event planning, including but not limited to generating client leads, consultations and coordination meetings, creating and executing client vision boards, and ultimately working the events themselves and see all your hard work come to life! 

This will mainly be an unpaid internship with eligibility for academic credit while in the office. However, you will be adequately compensated for your time and efforts while working various events at a rate of $20/hour. 

Responsibilities:

  • Answer phone calls and emails regarding potential clients, quotes, and contract information
  • Attend and take notes during client consultations regarding event planning, rentals, and/or floral design
  • Create table and floral mockups for client tours of our showroom
  • Assist the Event Specialists with:
    • Creating vision boards, budgets, timelines, and event diagrams 
    • Collecting vendor recommendations
    • Contacting vendors and reading through their contracts
    • Attending off-site logistic meetings at various venues

  • Assist with different types of events:
    • Wedding Rehearsals
    • Wedding Ceremonies
    • Wedding Receptions
    • Garbas/Sangeets/Mehndis
    • Corporate Parties
    • Engagement Parties
    • Birthday Parties
    • Baby Showers
    • Celebration of Lives
    • And more!

  • Assist with our social media with taking pictures and videos at events you attend

In order to obtain academic credit, you will also be required to write 3 essays throughout your time here. Prompts will be provided during the period of the internship.

Requirements:

  • Be a current student at an accredited college or university
  • Be able to work in-person onsite 20 hours/week at our Irvine headquarters and attend events on select weekends
  • Have a passion for events and event planning

Tasks
- Answer phone calls and emails regarding potential clients, quotes, and contract information
- Attend and take notes during client consultations regarding event planning, rentals, and/or floral design
- Create table and floral mockups for client tours of our showroom
- Assist the Event Specialists with their different tasks and responsibilities to get first-hand experience with the coordination aspect of the position
- Attending off-site logistic meetings at various venues
- Assist with different types of events of varying complexities
- Assist with our social media with taking pictures and videos at events you attend

Training
- Shadowing the employees here so it is a teach-as-you-go position
- Be given event terminology and information to study
- Sit in on and take notes on meetings and consultations
- Write a three essays over the course of your time at BEL
- Training on every aspect of an event from start to finish
- Training on our specific tools and websites

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the academic internship, the student will be able to:

- Understand common event terminology
- Communicate effectively and develop relationships with clients and other vendors
- Exercise their creativity and design knowledge in the contexts of events
- Understand what exactly goes into event coordination and executing events
- Develop timelines and vision boards as well as conduct consultations and meetings with potential/current clients
