Opportunity Summary 

The Fall 2024 intern will join the Shea Apartments Marketing team and support many initiatives. The intern’s responsibilities will include completing a thorough audit of our digital channels and updating them regularly for accuracy, as well as competitive research, creating content for Shea Apartments’ social channels, and assisting the team with other projects as needed. The intern will work collaboratively with various marketing team members to support the portfolio consisting of over 30 apartment communities in three states. Reporting directly to the Senior Marketing Manager, the intern will have visibility on high-impact projects that positively affect the business.

• Work with marketing team on various projects to help achieve 2024 division goals
• Support Senior Marketing Manager with property signage projects
• Conduct competitive research and organize data obtained on the department’s comp matrix
• Report on consumer communication trends and best practices; specifically for social media and email
• Create email campaigns, analyze results, and report findings
• Work with vendor to create virtual tours of apartment units and then implement the tours across all applicable digital channels
• Update the website and other digital channels weekly with applicable concessions
• Provide feedback on the prospect journey through visits to our advertising channels and property websites as well as onsite tours

Training:

Initial orientation will be focused on the apartment portfolio and marketing team goals. We will go over the breadth of the communities, the various regions we cover, and the general marketing tactics we use to support them. The first weeks will involve the intern shadowing the Senior Marketing Manager to understand daily tasks, learn prioritization, and observe skills. The intern will be trained extensively on their assigned projects, with support from the Senior Marketing Manager. Intern will be in daily communication with direct manager as needed for any questions. Additionally, there will be weekly meetings with the Senior Marketing Manager to go over project status and feedback, as well as weekly marketing status meetings to go over general updates with the team.

Learning Outcomes:

By the end of the internship, the student will be well versed in creating inspiring, brand-consistent social media posts, building external email campaigns and reporting results, utilizing a content management platform and asset DAM for website updates, and understanding the value and impact of accurate content across all channels. In addition, the student will be exposed to a professional setting to learn how to work with teammates and cross-functional team members as well as how to communicate effectively with a supervisor.
