Ceramics Studio / Administrative InternAt — Friends of McGroarty Cultural Arts Center
This is an opportunity for a student to learn the inner workings of a non-profit arts education center. The student will spend time in our Ceramics studio working and learning alongside our skilled instructors and kiln technician. They will enjoy interacting with ceramic artists and will learn everything that goes into creating artful ceramic objects including clay selection, hand-building techniques, wheel-throwing skills, glazing techniques, kiln firing process and much more. The student will also have an opportunity to see how other arts education classes and workshops in visual arts, fiber arts, music and glass art are created, marketed and managed to insure that all participants have a satisfying learning experience.
Students will have learned all the processes that go into the creation of ceramic art and what is required to operate a successful ceramics studio. On a broader basis, they will have attained knowledge of the various steps and procedures required to successfully plan and execute other arts education programs as well as effective marketing techniques that insure a high awareness of all the programs that the center offers.
Orientation and appropriate training will be provided prior to student entering the role.
In the ceramics studio, students will be able to observe and learn the operation of the kiln but will not be allowed to operate it themselves. For safety, only the kiln technician will perform that duty.
Resume should be submitted to McGroarty Arts Center's director. Qualified applicants will be invited to visit the center for an interview with the director.
