Program Information

About Bob Baker Marionette Theater: Bob Baker Marionette Theater\u2019s mission is to educate, celebrate, and inspire imagination through puppetry and the allied arts. Our goals are to offer accessible programming that fosters inter-generational inspiration, education, and joy; uplift the voices of professional artists and craftspersons; provide workshops for low-income youth and adults; and preserve Bob Baker's work in film, television, archives and art.\r\n\r\nThe Bob Baker Marionette Theater was founded in 1963 by Los Angeles visionary and artist Bob Baker. When Bob was 6 years old, he saw a puppet show in a department store window and dedicated the remainder of his life to puppetry and the establishment of the Theater. Today, Bob's legacy lives on through his lifetime of work--over 2,000 handcrafted marionettes and a repertoire of beloved performances--which have enlivened the hearts and minds of over a million youth for half a century. In 2019, the Theater relocated from its historic home (named an official Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Institution in 2009) to a new, expanded theater in Highland Park, where we continue to showcase original performances ranging from classics like Tchaikovsky\u2019s The Nutcracker to educational musicals.
