Assist therapist in patient care.

Assist patients in completing prescribed exercises

1.Student will demonstrate ability to set up therapeutic modalities on all body parts without direct supervision as prescribed by treatment therapist.
2. Student will demonstrate ability to instruct and supervise patient in exercises prescribed by therapy, providing corrections as needed.

Training:

Employees will receive general orientation, instruction in how to use modalities with direct supervision until proficiency is demonstrated. On the job training will be provided to learn exercises for patients. Again, direct supervision and job shadowing will be provided until proficiency is demonstrated.

1. greeting and interacting with patients in a professional manner (20%)
2. applying therapeutic modalities to patients as prescribed by primary therapist.(25%)
3. instruct, monitor, and correct patients performing therapeutic exercises (45%)
4. general cleaning and laundry (10%)

Training:

Student will receive one on one training for application of modalities ( electrical stimulation, ice, HP), instruction of therapeutic exercise as well as common form faults and corrections, general time management for support activities such as cleaning and laundry.

Learning Outcomes:

1. Follow prescribed exercise and modality plan for patients without supervision.
2. Student will be able to identify incorrect exercise techniques and provide verbal corrections to patients.
3. Pt. will be able to assist primary therapist in managing flow of schedule, including noticing schedule changes, patient arrivals and management of several patients at one time without verbal cues or direction
