Opportunity Summary 

The Program Assistant/Coordinator will play a critical and valued role in ensuring the smooth operation of our office and programs. This position involves administrative tasks, volunteer coordination, donor management, event planning, and community outreach. The ideal candidates will be highly organized, proactive, and passionate about our mission, knowing their contribution is integral to our team.

Opportunity Learning Outcomes 

Responsibilities: Assist with general office tasks such as scanning, filing, answering emails, and managing supplies. Ensure that all office documentation is well organized and easily accessible. Coordinate volunteer schedules, ensuring adequate coverage for all programs and events. Communicate with volunteers regularly to provide updates, answer questions, and ensure they are prepared for their roles. Assist with managing donor relationships, including maintaining donor records, preparing thank-you letters, and processing donations. Help plan and execute special community events, including scheduling, logistics, and volunteer coordination. Assist in setting up and breaking down event spaces, ensuring all materials and equipment are in place. Assist in sourcing food donations and coordinating food rescue operations as needed, including supporting the collection, sorting, and distribution of rescued food to ensure program effectiveness and community impact.

Opportunity Training 

Student interns receive one-on-one training over 2-3 weeks. This personalized training covers our mission, food safety, client service skills, sustainability practices, and hands-on experience in program operations and administrative tasks. This approach ensures interns are well-prepared and supported throughout their time with us.

Additional risk specific to this opportunity 

This position will be required to lift heavy boxes occasionally.
