Athletic Training Student InternAt — Perris High School
Athletic Training Students will learn under the direct supervision of the Athletic Trainer. Athletic Training students WILL NOT diagnose, evaluate, prescribe exercises and administer therapeutic interventions (ex: electrical stimulation, cupping, scrapping, etc) without the approval and supervision of the Athletic Trainer. If students travel without the Athletic Trainer, then they are ONLY able to provide hydration and basic first aid to athletic teams and MUST NOT make return to play decisions, tape athletic injuries, or diagnose potential injuries. Please remember that the Athletic Trainer is a certified healthcare professional with years of education, and you are not. They are responsible for everything and anything you do.
Students will learn: - Basic First Aid - Basic taping and wrapping techniques for various injuries - How to perform a basic evaluation - How to perform cupping, scraping, and various forms of manual therapy - CPR - How to hold C-spine - Equipment removal procedures for football in the fall
As students attend clinic, they will be taught how to perform different responsibilities. Each visit to clinic will result inn a new opportunity to learn something new and receive training for their responsibilities.
