Opportunity Summary 

Film Festival Interns assist the professional staff of DTLA Film Festival, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit media arts organization, in all aspects of the planning and execution of the annual film festival. Duties include research, film reviews and coverage, social media outreach, publicity and communications.

Training:

Assignments will be continually evaluated and discussed. Meetings to review work assignment will occur in person or by phone every two weeks. During the event itself, interns will job shadow senior staff in a variety of functions from tickets sales to filmmaker liaising, press relations and audience relations. Our interns work is constantly evaluated by our senior staff — at least once a week, frequently more.

Learning Outcomes:

Compile research on film credits.
Know the elements of what constitutes a film of high quality.
Learn how to find the core and constituent audiences for a film.
How to promote an event using social media.
How to pitch the media for coverage.
