GEAR UP Success AmbassadorAt — CSUF - Center for Educational Partnerships

This position will assist our site coordinators in the implementation of GEAR UP services and resources for the benefit of program participants. GEAR UP Services include tutoring, mentoring, college advising, event coordination, field trip, educational experiences and much more.

Learning Outcomes  

1. Have a better understanding of the intersection of different educational systems and how external factors influence a child's educational journey.
   2. Have a better understanding of the complex advisory forms and types that one can use to help students succeed.
   3. Have a better understanding of grant funded programs and the implications this has on social services.

Training  

1. Provide training for the student via in-person, group training for our programs and services.
   2. Do 1 on 1 mentoring and advising on the implications of the services we offer to our students and how they link to a career in psychology.
   3. Coordinate meeting with School Counselors to interview and get an understanding of the role for psychology.

Tasks/Duties  

1. Assisting in weekly tutoring sessions at GEAR UP sites
   2. Assist in college advising and individualized college and career success plans with middle school students
   3. Assist in event management and coordination for program participants.
   4. Assist in leading field trips and educational experiences for students.
