• Motivate TK/K-6th grade students through social-emotional learning and enrichment activities such as STEAM.

• Lead lessons designed to increase excitement about learning.

• Assist with homework completion and snack distribution.
• Effectively manage student behavior (up to 20 students) with minimal assistance.
• Ensure student safety during outdoor activities.
• Work effectively with staff and embrace professional development.
• Serve as a positive role model to the students to build kids’ self-esteem and emotional wellness.

Tasks:

* Manage a class ranging up to 20 students
* Redirect students using 2 positive outcomes
* Escalate and handle documentation as noted
* Meet and/or exceed standards for the role during evaluations

Training:

Ongoing Training (Online and Field)

Starting Training:
4 Days:
1. Field Training (3-4hrs)
2. Day 2 Online Training (3 hours)
3. Day 3 Online Training (3 hours)
4. Day 4 Online Training (2-3 Hours)
5. Mandated Reporter Training (3 Hours)

Additional Reporter Training (as needed)

Learning Outcome:

By the end of the academic internship, the student will be able to:

* Effectively work with groups individually up to 20 students using techniques learned regarding Assertiveness, Engagement, and Redirection

* Work with students of various backgrounds and needs

* Be a self-starter, and will be able to adapt the program to the group of students they are working with (by understanding their needs and abilities).
