This internship will allow participants to interact with active older adults at CSUF, providing customer service, answering program inquiries and assisting older adults with accessing technology.

This is an opportunity to learn applied principles of intergenerational & intercultural communication in the workplace.

Learning Outcomes  

By the end of the internship, the student will be able to do the following:

1. identify and meet customer service needs of an aging population
   2. participate in effective business communication with multiple generations in the workplace
   3. gain a better understanding of office operations and communication involved in creating a healthy work environment

Training  

1. Lecture (Executive Director is a Professor)
   2. Shadowing staff members
   3. Direct interaction with older adult program members

Tasks/Duties  

The intern will demonstrate the learning outcomes by the following:

1. providing excellent customer service and answering program inquiries/troubleshooting issues in the workplace
   2. communicating effectively in the workplace within a team environment
   3. adding value to a growing program through sharing insights on outreach, fundraising and service operations
