Grant writing teamAt — James Jay Dudley Luce Foundation
Students will divide into teams comprised of about 4 members, and then choose from a list of nonprofit partners previously arranged by the instructor. Excitingly, the team will work on a semester-long project and complete an actual grant proposal worthy of submission. Each team will meet with a contact at their chosen nonprofit for 15 minutes a week -- most likely virtually -- for guidance. All students will also be interacting weekly with the course instructor for guidance. Team will submit a 4-page double spaced report about their nonprofit and their experiences working with the nonprofit. The report will include an organizational overview of the nonprofit, the annual budget of the nonprofit, the corpus of the nonprofit, its annual disbursement (a single dollar amount), its areas of interests, its mission, applicable funding targets to which they can apply, and three possible funding targets.
Purpose: Learn best practices in working with community partners on seeking external funding.
