To examine and further develop individual philosophical beliefs about the teaching-learning process in early childhood education.
To be able to recognize and competently participate in a center-based quality child development program and learn to work effectively with a professional staff, with young children, and with their parents.
To examine the contributions of both the physical and the interpersonal learning environments and their influence on the behaviors of both teachers and young children.
To plan, implement, and evaluate developmentally appropriate activities, learning plans, and curriculum approaches within a quality child development program.
To participate as required by program staff in ongoing observation and documentation of young children's activity and contribute to ongoing program planning activities.
To examine career pathways in child development and early childhood education and develop an individual plan for personal professional development, including future career interests and job opportunities.
With one-to- one mentoring the students will be able to assist the Teacher(s) with the implementation of curriculum. Also, guide children in a positive manner displaying friendly, affectionate, enthusiastic, and caring behaviors.
Training will also include training with meal and snack preparation, feeding children, modeling manners and responsible for daily cleaning duties which include sweeping, mopping, disposing of trash.
Training will also include proper interaction with children on the playground/classroom taking part in activities that include bending, stooping, jumping and other physical activities. Interns will also be able to assist with classroom is organization, cleaning and learning exceptional customer service to families and children we serve. This includes learning to maintain confidentiality regarding the children and families within our program .
The intern will also learn how to prevent injuries and accidents with proper supervisor and safety skills.
We encouraged all interns to attend all staff training sessions, meetings and programs sponsored by the School, as more knowledge and insight will be gained.
The intern may perform other related duties as requested by a member of management, Teacher, or Lead Teacher, as they relate to Child Development and Infant Care.
