CAPC Internship Opportunity
Gain hands-on experience in child welfare and prevention efforts with the Orange County Child Abuse Prevention Council (CAPC). As an intern, you'll support critical administrative functions while contributing to initiatives that protect and support children across the county.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in organizing CAPC and subcommittee meetings, ensuring compliance with parliamentary procedures, recording minutes, and maintaining Brown Act compliance.
- Create and distribute public awareness materials on child maltreatment and neglect in Orange County.
- Analyze local data to identify trends and opportunities for preventive campaigns.
- Attend and contribute to outreach events on weekends, including giving presentations to community groups.
- Help plan and execute a county-wide campaign for Child Abuse Prevention Month to raise awareness and drive action.
- Attend workshops and trainings to enhance your understanding of child welfare, child abuse prevention, and administrative strategies.
- Report data and outcomes for CAPC’s monthly and annual performance reporting.
- Participate in weekly supervision, biweekly staff meetings, and committee meetings.
Training & Development:
- Monthly workshops offering 1-2 CEUs on key topics like mandated reporting, Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), substance use, trauma, and child welfare best practices.
Learning Outcomes:
- Master parliamentary procedures and ensure compliance with legal frameworks.
- Understand nonprofit organizational structures and intergovernmental collaborations.
- Develop strategies for addressing child welfare issues through research and community outreach.
- Enhance communication skills through the creation of clear, concise awareness materials.
