Opportunity Summary 

This internship position is for graphic designers who are in search of experience in hands-on projects to develop skills in the field of graphic design. This position will specify what students will know, be able to do, or be able to demonstrate when they have completed or participated in a program, activity, course, or project. The following internship is designed to cover a broad range of disciplines in graphic design. The intern will understand graphic design principles in typography, colors, and visual communication

Learning Outcomes  

By the end of the internship, the student will be able to acquire competent knowledge and skills in various art media, concepts, and methodologies. The student will solve visual problems at a competent level, including understanding and applying the elements of art and design principles. Finally, the student will utilize and apply critical thinking skills to communicate ideas for their intended audience at a competent level in visual, oral, and written formats.

Training  

To help the student achieve the proposed learning outcomes, I will train the intern on hierarchy through fonts, position, axis, size, scale, and weight. I will incorporate current graphic design software in the development of typographic-based print media. In addition to color, the student must understand color communication and management within graphic design. The student will develop a working knowledge of accessible design tools suitable for digital and print-based environments, including 3-dimensional color theory. Lastly, the student will utilize Adobe Creative Suite applications.

Tasks/Duties  

The intern will demonstrate the learning outcomes by creating flyers, digital media posts, banners, and physical artwork for at least 20 different promotional campaigns.
