Intake VolunteerAt — Veterans Association of North County
Greet and assist clients who either come into the office or call in. We need to talk to them to ascertain what kind of help that they're looking and find that Resource for them. We then provide you with that information. We also make and confirm appointments with our Veteran Service Representatives so that they can get help filing claims with Veterans Affairs. Volunteers are also asked to participate in evening and weekend events, purely on a volunteer basis. Examples are Memorial Day, Veterans Day and Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans ceremonial events.
Volunteers will learn of many entities providing assistance to our Military communities and how to connect the Veterans to those organizations. They'll learn about working in a team and individual environment to find these resources and provide them to those in need of the information. They will also learn to listen and discern what help is needed and how we can assist in providing it. Sometime clients arrive not knowing what benefits they may have and how to access them so we need to help get the appropriate information from them so that we can find what resources are available for them.
There will be hands on training on equipment operation (phones, copy/fax etc.) We will instruct him on making and confirming appointments and how to find the information needed to provide resources as needed.
Jacob would not be alone in the building and doors are able to be locked in case of any emergency. There are no safety hazards inside of the building.
Fill out our volunteer worksheet and have an interview with me, the volunteer coordinator. Someone has already been found eligible for this opportunity.
