Equestrian AssistantAt — Ride Above Disability Therapeutic Riding Center
Are you ready to make a difference in the lives of people with disabilities while working hands-on with horses? At RAD, volunteers play a vital role in our therapeutic riding sessions—helping care for horses, assisting riders, and supporting our mission to create a more inclusive community. Whether you're side-walking with riders or assisting with barn chores, you'll be part of an uplifting environment where every contribution counts. No horse experience? No problem! We'll provide all the training you need. Join us and experience the rewarding connection between horses and humans firsthand. Be the difference—volunteer today!
By the end of this service-learning opportunity, students will demonstrate an understanding of the unique physical, emotional, and social benefits of equine-assisted activities for individuals with disabilities, and develop skills in teamwork, communication, and adaptive support strategies while assisting in a therapeutic riding environment.
All students are required to complete a 2-hour orientation covering essential safety protocols and an overview of their responsibilities.
Volunteers must follow all safety protocols outlined during orientation, including proper horse handling techniques and guidelines for assisting individuals with disabilities. Closed-toe shoes are required, and staff will always be on-site to provide guidance.
