Compensation: Though this is formerly filed as an unpaid opportunity to learn and build up your resume, in accordance with regulations set by the U.S. Department of Labor, Wage and Hour Division, we do consider providing some form of financial assistance as a separate bonus.
Disclaimer: Though this is technically an unpaid internship, it is very possible that it could turn into a paid internship, based on our current fundraising efforts and plans. All internship arrangements are made in compliance with the Fair Labor Standards Act, as students receive learning experiences relevant to their academic majors, and are placed in safe work environments.
Duration: Jan 2nd through Feb 31st. (8 weeks)
Location: Onsite, office is in Brea, CA
Hours: All hours are onsite, 2-3 days per week (we are very flexible on schedule) for part time hours. 16 hours per week is the required quota to accomplish and sustain the internship, and be considered for future resume references by executive management.
Academic Credit: It is entirely expected that you can receive academic credit for your effort on this internship. Our management is happy to complete the paperwork and perform the require signatures.
Summary: In this role, you will be working with a team performing data entry, content creation, quality assurance testing, and online research. You will be collaborating to develop custom content for a new tech startup. You may be a part of some technical discussions, and absorb technical skills and experience for your resume. You’d gain valuable business and analysis experience from our team of professionals and the creative and interesting work being performed.

- Online / computer skills (typing, use of word, excel, the internet for research)

- Experience in journalism, online research, research portals.
- Experience in assembling great content (both written pieces and video/other creative pursuits).
- Technical skills such as software development, graphic design, or other software tools.
Desired Background:
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree, ideally in technology or computer science, but not required.

Tasks:
- Morning “standup” meeting with developers, hearing about their work, learning about their daily tasks and how those translate into overall team progress.
- Weekly or BiWeekly status meetings with the team.
- Quality assurance testing with others, testing all features and functionality on recent software releases.
- New content creation, creating new ‘isms’ in our pre-production platform environment.
- Team collaboration sessions onsite in Brea, CA.
- Slack and zoom collaboration with stakeholders and team members.
Training:
- Weekly or BiWeekly status meetings with the team.
-We will train you on the use of Jira, as a software development defect and enhancement tracking system, and how to create tickets, propel them along the development pipeline, and see the work through to completion with professional software developers who solve those tickets.
- We will train you on how a data model works, and how the data is entered into the database through the front-end web based user experiences.
- We will help you learn how to create content in rapid fashion using online and ai-based tools.
- We will teach you how to formulate product enhancement materials, mockups, and snag-it screen shots of the product and where the changes are required.
Learning Outcome:
- use (or at least be reasonably exposed to) software tools that professional software development teams use, for creating and managing defects, source code, deployment systems, and more.
- understand general use of data models, software source code, pre-production software web applications, and other technologies.
- Use Artificial Intelligence tools like ChatGPT and similar, both from the front end user experience and potentially through tools or source code.
- Be aware how startups operate, build and deploy their products, and engage with investors.
- Learn how to use tech team management tools like Jira, PostMan, and others, to manage software defects and push developer teams forward toward successful releases.
