Terasaki Institute for Biomedical Innovation

Program Information

Our Mission\r\nWe aim to tackle the biggest problems in health and sustainability. We are focused on solving problems in new ways and enable their translation into technologies that change the world.\r\n\r\nOur Vision\r\nWe will make the world a healthy and sustainable place for all its inhabitants by inventing and accelerating translation of innovative solutions that impact human and planetary health. \r\n\r\nAcademic Entrepreneurs Rapidly Translating Innovation\r\nWe are academic entrepreneurs who are passionate about developing innovative healthcare technology and getting it to patients as quickly as possible. Our pursuit is personalized solutions through rapid translation of cutting-edge research into real-world applications.\r\n\r\nPersonalized Solutions Through Innovative Translation\r\nEach individual is unique, and disease diagnosis, treatment and prevention requires precision and personalization. We recognize this through our efforts to swiftly translate omic, environmental and lifestyle data into tailored healthcare solutions. Omics provides comprehensive understanding of disease causes, while data insights reveal how individual variability impacts drug metabolism, treatment effectiveness and disease risk.\r\n\r\nThe Terasaki Institute rapidly engineers these omic-driven insights into precise, personalized solutions. Our goal is to quickly tailor innovations that account for each person's unique genetic makeup, environment and lifestyle. We are academic entrepreneurs committed to developing innovative healthcare technology and rapidly delivering it to improve patient lives.\r\n\r\nHow we do it\r\nAt the Terasaki Institute for Biomedical Innovation, our multidisciplinary teams work as part of a unique convergence ecosystem to quickly translate scientific knowledge into real-world solutions in the clinic. We focus on the problem first and work our way back to the solution. Scientists, clinicians, and engineers work in close collaboration to tackle the problem and rapidly build prototypes. We involve business development and technology transfer experts early on to adapt our innovations for immediate use.
