Boys & Girls Clubs of Garden Grove is looking for Health Science Interns!
We have internship opportunities great for those interested in working with children, adolescents and families!
Health Science Interns volunteer at after school program sites to provide support to Boys & Girls Clubs of Garden Grove staff during after school or summer programming. Assists with supervising members, classroom management, develops & implements Health & Life Skills or Sports & Recreation programs, serves as a positive role model to youth, and establishes meaningful relationships that will encourage and motivate youth participation.

Location:
One of BGCGG’s various ASES Sites or Club Branches
Schedule:
Commitment: Complete a minimum of 120 Hours; Must be available at least 1 day/week, M-F 2:00pm-6:00pm, W 1:00pm-6:00pm; summer hours vary
Qualifications:
Must be at least 18 years of age
HS diploma or equivalent
Currently enrolled in college and pursuing undergraduate studies in Health Science, Physical Education, Human Development, Kinesiology, or other related program
Bilingual capabilities a plus (Spanish or Vietnamese)
Must clear screening and background check

•Develops monthly activity calendars along with a supplies list and submit to site supervisor for approval
•Encourage members to participate in a variety of program activities; utilizes and maintains resources effectively
•Assist with program curriculum, planning, instruction, and homework assistance
•Maintains an orderly and clean area as well as respects school property; ensures program areas are safe
•Ensures members are recognized with positive reinforcement (i.e. Be Great Traits
Training:
-Volunteer/Intern orientation
-Training on site by their supervisor
-Regular and ongoing feedback with supervisor.
Learning Outcomes:
•Practical exposure and experience implementing health and fitness curriculum with school-aged youth
•Exposure to health and fitness curriculum designed for school-aged youth
•Support and guidance in activity planning and program implementation
•Access to professional trainings including classroom management, youth development, and other related topics
•Ability to apply coursework in a hands-on environment
